Do you get the jitters now the sun is shining more and the sky stays blue at night? Make the best out of your longer night by exercising in the outdoors. Get some fresh air with a brisk bike ride, do a bootcamp in the park or put your sneakers on for a round of jogging. Bet you feel satisfied after an hour?
Everybody knows that exercise is good for you. And it makes you happy. Exercising creates endorphins. This kind of super dust creates a happy feeling after a gym session. The most important thing is doing what you want and what feels good. I must admit that in winter I skip the gym regurlaly. I love to be under a blanket, reading a book, rather than stepping out if the house to go to the gym. Now that spring has arrived, this excuse is no longer valid and I have actually put myself back in my gym shoes. And I must admit: after a gym lesson I always feel good.
Several studies indicate that exercising creates a better mood. The Trimbos Institute (in Utrecht, the Netherland) found that people who exercise every week, have 50% less change to develop a mental illness than non-athletes. Besides, sports would ensure less stress and it would help for depression, anxiety disorders, dementia and even Parkinson's. So where are you waiting for? Get off that couch and start exercising with a great walk through the forest. Inhale the delicious scent of spring and enjoy nature.
Exercising in nature has a greater effect than sports in the city or in the gym. For the happiness endorphins you only need to exercise for 20 to 30 minutes. After a busy day at work, I love to go running for half an hour to relax and to restore calm in my head. I also love to just walk and play around in the forest with my husband and kids. By moving around, you feel more relaxed, because you reduce the stress hormone cortisone and adrenaline levels.

We all like to feel confident in our own skin. In addition, our immune system will be getting stronger when we exercise regularly. We are thus better protected against outside diseases. Time to put those seated buttocks to work. The after exercise feeling is great: you will feel like you can conquer the world. With the sun in spring you will get some extra vitamin D on board too. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. And now get your running shoes on.
