Although designated smoking areas exist, Schiphol plans to relocate these areas further from the entrances and exits of Schiphol Plaza. Since the Supreme Court's decision to close smoking areas in Dutch hospitality venues, Schiphol Airport has also complied with this decision and the entire terminal is now smoke-free. This also applies to the parking garages, where smoking is no longer permitted, and this is indicated at the entrances to the various parking facilities.

Where can you still smoke at Schiphol?

Smoking is currently still permitted at Jan Dellaertplein, but Schiphol plans to relocate these smoking areas to a location further away from the entrances and exits of Schiphol Plaza. Furthermore, the airport complies with legal guidelines regarding the sale of tobacco, and it is still available at various kiosks throughout the airport.

E-cigarettes and flies

On most routes, you are permitted to bring an e-cigarette and extra batteries, provided you carry them with you personally. E-cigarettes are not permitted in carry-on luggage. It's important to check the specific requirements of the countries you're visiting and the airline, as regulations vary by country and airline.

It is not permitted to use or charge electronic cigarettes on board the aircraft. Furthermore, pressure changes at high altitude can cause e-cigarette cartridges to leak, so it is advisable to remove all liquids from the e-cigarette and transport pods and clearomizers in a separate sealed bag when flying with an e-cigarette.
