Can you just take those Magic Truffles, CBD gummies, or herbal extracts across the border?
Regulations surrounding psychoactive substances and cannabis-related products are changing rapidly. What was a 'grey area' last year may now be strictly forbidden. We have listed the most important facts for you, so you won't face any unpleasant surprises at customs.
Traveling with Smartshop Products: The Basic Rule
What is legal in the Netherlands often falls under local drug legislation abroad. Countries outside the Netherlands frequently enforce a zero-tolerance policy for anything containing even a trace of THC or psychedelic substances. Even natural extracts sold as dietary supplements in the Netherlands can be classified as hard drugs elsewhere.
HHC, THCP, and Other Synthetic Cannabinoids
Status: Do absolutely not bring along
- New legislation: Since recent bans in the Netherlands and surrounding countries (such as Germany, France, and Austria), possession of HHC, THCP, and similar substances is illegal.
- Risk: Taking these products across the border is considered international drug trafficking. This leads to heavy fines and potential prison sentences.
