Magic Truffles
Magic truffles and mushrooms are both parts of the same organism - the only differences are in the way they look, the way they are grown and harvested, and the way psilocybin is concentrated. Magic truffles are masses of mycelium containing the fruiting bodies, which contain the hallucinogenic chemicals psilocybin and psilocin. They are tiny, tough little nodes, harder and dryer than mushrooms growing above ground -- and contain the hallucinogenic chemicals called psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin, though at lower densities than visible bud mushrooms.
Since the magic truffles and the magic mushrooms are just different parts of the same organism, both contain exactly the same psychoactive alkaloids: psilocybin, psilocin and baeocystin being the most obvious. Since magic mushrooms contain both psilocybin and psilocin, both magic mushrooms and magic truffles produce visual and sensory distortions. That is, they both contain the active compounds Baeocystin, psilocin, and psilocybin -- though at different concentrations -- and they both can be consumed similarly. Like truffle forms, which grow underground, magic mushrooms contain active psychedelic compounds, but at higher concentrations: baeocystin, psilocin and, most importantly, psilocybin.
All of these mushrooms are themselves called Magic Mushrooms, and the sclerotia where that psilocybin is found are called magic truffles. The magic substance, psilocybin -- is what is responsible for the hallucinogenic trips that you experience with magic truffles. The magic substance psilocybin is a naturally occurring psychedelic compound found in over 200 species of mushrooms. Around 200 types of mushrooms are capable of producing psilocybin and psilocin, which are active compounds which makes these mushrooms magical, as it were.
Because mushrooms can grow in a variety of shapes and sizes, the concentrations of the psychoactive compounds, such as psilocybin, contained in each gram may vary. Growth can result in a wide variation in psilocybin concentrations per gram. The reason for this is that mushrooms have much more water, but it is also that they tend to grow at varying sizes, which causes psilocybin concentrations to differ between each. Two mushrooms grown near one another may present different levels of psilocybin.
As you now know, Psilocybe truffles grow underground, while the magic mushrooms pop up from the ground once they have a suitable growing environment. However, the truffles first need to be dug out, since they grow under the soil, near mushrooms.
Truffles are the underground growing Sclerotia; Magic Truffles are basically the underground portion of the mushroom, ready for use by the rest of the organism as food reserves. Magic mushrooms use their truffles, called sclerotia, to store nutrients and energy in times of drought. Sclerotia are formed from the mushrooms under ground, which stores nutrients and protects against the elements, drought, and natural heating. Psilocybin truffles, or sclerotia, (sometimes also called philosophers stones) are thick, solid nodules growing underground, as part of a mycelium of Psilocybin mushrooms, a web of interconnected fungal growths.
Psilocybin mushrooms have been used for ceremonies across different cultures for thousands of years, and their psychedelic properties have been studied extensively in the last half-century. Fruiting bodies and sclerotia have different functions for a mushroom: a mushrooms function is to reproduce, while truffles are for self-preservation; yet, to the individual seeking to consume psilocybin, magical truffles and mushrooms have exactly the same function and offer similar experiences. The drying and storage of mushrooms and truffles are similar; however, when it comes to dosage, the two are rather different.
When it comes to getting high, truffles are as powerful and potent as mushrooms. It is recommended that you eat these types of truffles on an empty stomach only. If you are on a full stomach, you might need more time to experience the effects of truffles.
Nausea is mostly due to the quality of psilocybe truffles consumed. While you can mask that flavor by dressing up your magic mushrooms with herbs, spices, or other ingredients, the truffles are still pretty hard to digest, and they will often trigger some pretty intense rounds of nausea. Unlike with magic mushrooms or LSD, as yet, there has been little to no scientific study on potentially adverse physiological effects from microdosing with Psilocybin truffles.
Trips caused by psilocybin truffles are reported to be milder, with less intense hallucinations, and those who consume these truffles are still able to function physically and socially. Even at small amounts, psilocybin is technically a mind-altering substance, each persons brain is complex and unique, and different users can experience different results with microdoses of magic truffles. In theory, though, we could suggest psilocybin does the exact same thing with magic truffles, but, as we know with psychedelics, the mindset may be the big difference. Psilocybin mushrooms can have powerful both positive and negative effects on the brain, including, but not limited to, intensified sensory experiences and feelings of relaxation, and paranoia and nausea.
Brain scans of brain activity following the consumption of psilocybin (in the form of pills, rather than truffles or magic mushrooms) have shown the drug decreases blood flow to, and activity in, the amygdala, the part of the brain that becomes overactive in individuals experiencing depression and anxiety. Whether derived from mushrooms or truffles, psilocybin (and related compounds contained in truffles, mushrooms stems, or caps) induces visual and auditory hallucinations, and emotional changes. Athletes are known to take microdoses of LSD, cannabis, or magic mushrooms in order to enhance performance--in regards to the common magic mushrooms and magic truffles ingredient psilocybin, Mariandel Reyes writes that some athletes claim psilocybin may help put them into a zone, or flow state, while exercising.
How do you use truffles?
• Use truffles in a safe and familiar environment
• Never take more than 1 content of a container at a time
• Start with half the amount of the total weight in the container, decide after 30-45 minutes whether you want to increase the dose
• Once you feel the effects you only need a small dose to increase the effects
• The truffles work best on an empty stomach
• Chew the truffles well, this improves the effect
• The truffles can also be taken in the form of tea or soup
• Store the truffles in a dark place between 2°C and 4°C
• The trip reaches its peak about 1 to 3 hours after ingestion, after 5 to 6 hours the active substance starts to work.
• Only use truffles for mental health, not for depression, high or low blood pressure, heart and/or lung complaints, diabetes or pregnancy.
• Do not use in combination with alcohol, medicines and/or other drugs
• Do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
