Masterclass: How to Roll the Perfect Tip (That Stays Round)

Step 1: The first fold (the anchor)

Start simple. Fold the end of your tip about 5 millimeters (half a centimeter). Make sure the crease is sharp; this is crucial for the stability of the filter.

Step 2: Starting the zigzag

Fold that first section back the other way, roughly in half (2.5mm). You are now creating the beginning of your accordion shape.

Step 3: Creating the M/W shape

Now fold another section of about 5mm back the other way. You will see the characteristic 'M' or 'W' shape emerge. You’ll be left with a long strip of paper on one side.

Step 4: Finishing the grid

Give it one last fold back. Your internal grid is now complete.

Step 5: The Pro-Tip for tension (Essential!)

Pay attention, this is the trick most people forget. Before you roll the M into its final shape, take the long strip of paper that remains. Roll this strip tightly toward the M first, then let it go.

Why? You’re giving the paper 'memory.' This causes it to curl naturally, meaning your tip won’t annoyingly spring open inside your joint. This makes rolling your joint ten times easier.

Step 6: Rolling it all together

Now it’s time to finish it off. Hold your folded M-shape firmly between your thumb and index finger. Take the (now pre-curled) long strip and roll it tightly and neatly around the M. Keep applying light pressure so it becomes a compact roll.

Step 7: Done! The final result

If all went well, you should now have a perfectly round tip that feels sturdy. The M is nicely centered, providing an open structure for airflow. This is the foundation for a top-tier session. Practice makes perfect, so just try again if the first one isn't flawless!
