In the liver, some of the THC is converted into 11-hydroxy-THC (11-OH-THC), a psychoactive metabolite. This oral absorption process is slower than inhalation. The effects can then last for several hours, typically around 4 to 12 hours.

Combining THC with alcohol or other psychoactive substances can make the effects less predictable. Cannabinoids may also interact with certain medications. If you take medication or have a medical condition, discuss the use of THC with a doctor or pharmacist beforehand.
