• 2-piece grinder: consists of a lid and a grinding chamber with teeth. You grind the weed and remove it directly from the grinder afterwards.
• 3-piece grinder: has an additional collection chamber underneath the grinding chamber. Once the weed is fine enough, it falls through the holes in the grinding chamber into the compartment below.
• 4-piece grinder: includes a collection chamber as well as a fine screen with a separate kief compartment underneath. The smallest particles fall through the screen and collect at the bottom.

If you mainly want something small and portable, a card grinder is a practical choice. If you simply want to grind your weed, a 2-piece grinder is often enough. A 3-piece grinder is useful if you want the ground weed to collect in a separate chamber. If you also want to collect kief, choose a 4-piece grinder.

What materials are grinders made from?

Grinders are made from a variety of materials. The best material for you mainly depends on how often you use your grinder, how much weight you prefer and how much you want to spend.

Metal grinder

Metal grinders are sturdy and generally last a long time. Their teeth stay sharp and can easily handle stickier weed as well. Aluminium grinders are relatively lightweight, while stainless steel grinders are usually heavier and extremely durable.

Plastic grinder

Plastic grinders are lightweight and usually inexpensive. They're a good option if you're looking for a simple grinder or something that's easy to carry around. With frequent use, however, plastic teeth generally wear down faster than metal ones.

Wooden grinder

Wooden grinders are mainly popular for their natural appearance. They're often lightweight and comfortable to hold. Avoid leaving wood wet for long periods, as wooden grinders can also be more difficult to clean.

Acrylic grinder

Acrylic grinders are lightweight and often partly transparent. This makes it easy to see how finely your herbs have been ground while you're using the grinder.

What is an electric grinder?

An electric grinder automatically grinds your herbs for you. Simply add the herbs and let the device do the work. This can be useful if you don't want to twist a grinder by hand or if you regularly grind larger quantities.

How do you use a grinder?

How finely should you grind weed?

With a 2-piece grinder, you decide how finely you want to grind the weed. The longer you twist, the finer it becomes.

Many 3- and 4-piece grinders have small holes at the bottom of the grinding chamber. Once the weed is fine enough, it falls through these holes into the collection chamber below.

This means you usually don't need to grind for very long. Twist the grinder a few times, check the contents and stop once most of the weed has fallen into the collection chamber.

Can you grind hash with a regular grinder?

A regular weed grinder isn't ideal for hash. Hash is often softer and stickier than weed, which means it can stick to the teeth and the inside of the grinder. This can quickly cause the grinder to jam and may prevent the hash from breaking apart evenly.
