Do you want to grow your own cannabis quickly and without the hassle? Autoflowering seeds are the ideal choice for growers who love convenience: they flower automatically and are ready for harvest in no time. Will you order from us? Then you can count on our years of expertise and lightning-fast shipping.

What are autoflower seeds?

Autoflower seeds are cannabis seeds that automatically start flowering as soon as the plant reaches a certain age (usually after 2 to 4 weeks), regardless of the number of hours of light they receive. Unlike traditional varieties, you do not need to adjust the light schedule to start flowering. This makes them perfect for beginners and growers who want to harvest multiple times in one season.

Most autoflowers nowadays are feminized. This means that you are virtually 100% certain of female plants, which produce the desired buds full of terpenes and resin. So you don't waste time on male plants.

Benefits of autoflower seeds

Choosing autoflowering cannabis seeds offers quite a few benefits for your growing project:

  • Fast harvest: Often from seed to bud within 8 to 12 weeks.
  • Convenience: No stress about light schedules; They bloom automatically.
  • Compact size: Ideal for a discreet corner on your balcony or a small grow room.
  • High resistance: Thanks to Ruderalis genetics, they are often more resistant to cold and pests.
  • Multiple harvests: Due to the short cycle, you can often harvest twice per summer outdoors.

What are the disadvantages of autoflowering seeds?

Although they are super convenient, you need to pay attention to a few points. The biggest disadvantage is the yield per plant; because the plants remain small, you harvest less volume than with large photoperiod plants. On average, the yield outdoors is between 50 and 200 grams per plant. Also, due to their short life cycle, they have little time to recover from breeding mistakes.

Well-known Brands

At Novus Fumus, we have the 'big three' lined up for you. Each brand has its own character, but they have one thing in common: they deliver genetics you can rely on. Check below which brand best suits your growing style.

Vision Seeds

They continue to develop their seeds for the perfect balance between potency and ease of cultivation. Dutch Passion: The legendary pioneers

For those who love tradition and pure quality from their own soil, there is Dutch Passion. This brand has been around since the 1980s and they practically invented feminized seeds. They focus on high-quality genetics and unique terpene profiles. Their Auto Mazar is a legend in the cannabis world and remains one of the most popular choices for growers aiming for top results.

Buying autoflower seeds: What to look for?

Do you want to avoid a bad purchase? Check these points before ordering:

  1. Genetics: Choose strains like RQS or Dutch Passion for a stable balance.
  2. THC vs CBD: Determine which effect you are looking for (relaxation or energy).
  3. Location: Check if the strain is suitable for your climate outdoors, indoors, or in a greenhouse.
  4. Terpene profile: Look at the aroma and flavor description for the best experience.

Growing guide: How to get the most out of your autoflower seeds

Because autoflowers have a fixed life cycle of about 8 to 12 weeks, every day counts. They have less time to recover than normal plants, so a good start is half the battle. Whether you have a professional grow tent or a sunny spot on the windowsill: with these tips from Novus Fumus, you will get the most out of your genetics.

How can you best germinate cannabis seeds?

A strong start is crucial. Curious which method suits you? Check out the 3 effective options on our page: Germinating cannabis seeds.

Growing indoors without a tent (The windowsill)

Don't have room for a tent or expensive lights? No problem, you can manage perfectly well on a bright windowsill. It is the most natural way of indoor growing, but do pay attention to these points:

  • Choose the right side: Your plant needs buckets of light. A south-facing window is actually a requirement. Facing north or east, the plant often receives too little energy, causing it to become spindly and weak.
  • Beware of drafts and cold: Glass can become ice cold at night. Move your pot slightly away from the window in the evening to prevent cold shock. A constant temperature between 20°C and 25°C is perfect for healthy growth.
  • Light pollution is not an issue: The beauty of autoflowers on the windowsill is that they are not thrown off by living room lights or streetlights. They follow their own internal clock and simply continue flowering.
  • Growing indoors in a tent or grow box

In a controlled environment, you have complete control over all the buds. Just grab a good full-spectrum LED light; that creates a nice balance between growth and flowering without your tent turning into an oven.

    • Light schedule: Most growers here go for 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness (18/6). Do you really want to go full throttle for a larger yield? Then 20 hours of light (20/4) also works excellently.
    • Air circulation: Place a small fan that blows gently over the buds. This makes the stems stronger and ensures that mold doesn't stand a chance by keeping the air moving between the leaves.
    • Growing outdoors in the garden or on the balcony

The sun is the most powerful light source there is, but be smart with your timing. Only start sowing outdoors when the night frost is truly gone, usually from mid-May (after the Ice Saints). The months of June and July provide the plant with the most energy.

    • Protection against rain: Especially in the final weeks of flowering, those thick buds soak up water like a sponge. Place your plants under a shelter if it rains for a long time to prevent bud rot.
    • Location: Place the pot in the sunniest spot you have. The more direct sunlight the plant catches, the more compact and flavorful the buds become thanks to the development of terpenes.
    • The technical basics: Soil, pots, and climate

The right pot and soil: Get the final pot immediately, at least 11 to 15 liters. Autoflowers hate repotting; this stops growth for a few days, and you don't have that time. Choose an airy 'Light Mix' potting soil. Is the soil too compact? Then mix some perlite into it so that the roots get oxygen easily.

Humidity and temperature: In the beginning (the seedling phase), the humidity can be high, around 70%. As soon as the plant really starts growing, reduce this to 50%. During flowering, a lower humidity of 40% to 50% is essential to protect your harvest. Keep the temperature around 23 degrees during the day and no lower than 17 degrees at night for the best result.

Watering: Do this judiciously. Soil that is too wet suffocates the roots. The soil should feel moist, but certainly not soaking wet. Simply check this by sticking your finger into the soil.

Tip from the specialist: Observe the plant closely. If the small resin droplets (trichomes) turn cloudy white, you are close to harvest. At Novus Fumus, we always advise taking your time drying; that brings out the best flavor in your home-grown buds.

Frequently Asked Questions about Autoflower Seeds

How long does it take from seed to harvest?
Most autoflowers are fully ready for harvest within 8 to 12 weeks.

How deep should a cannabis seed be planted?
Plant a (germinated) seed at a depth of 1 – 1.5 cm with the taproot facing down. Gently grasp the seed by the shell with tweezers or clean fingers; never touch the root. Lightly cover the hole and keep the soil evenly moist.

Why are my autoflowers so small?
Small autoflowers are often the result of stress, over-fertilization, or too much water. Because the growth phase of an autoflower is short and fixed, the plant has little time to recover from mistakes. A lack of nutrients or a pot that is too small can also inhibit growth.
