THC edibles are a range of edible products containing THC. You consume them without smoking or vaping, meaning no smoke and no characteristic cannabis smell. When comparing different THC edibles, pay attention to the amount of THC per edible, other cannabinoids present, the composition, and the flavour.
THC edibles are food products containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). This category includes THC edibles, a broader group of edible cannabinoid products. THC edibles always contain THC, sometimes combined with CBD or CBG. An edible containing exclusively CBD is a CBD edible and not a THC edible.
The main difference from smoking or vaping is that you don't inhale smoke or vapour. For a detailed explanation of how edibles are absorbed and work, read "How Do THC Edibles Work?".
THC stands for tetrahydrocannabinol and is a psychoactive cannabinoid from cannabis. THC affects perception, mood, coordination, and reaction time, among other things. How strongly someone reacts to it varies per person and depends on factors such as the amount consumed, tolerance, and method of intake.

After consumption, THC is absorbed through the digestive tract and then processed by the liver. In the liver, part of the THC is converted into 11-hydroxy-THC (11-OH-THC), a psychoactive metabolite. This oral absorption process is slower than inhalation. As a result, it usually takes about 30 to 90 minutes for the first effects of edibles to become noticeable. For some people, this may take longer. The effects can then last for several hours, approximately 4 to 12 hours.
This delay is crucial. If you feel little effect after a short time, it doesn't mean the edible isn't working. Taking a second edible too quickly can lead to the effects becoming too strong later on.
The strength per edible varies by brand and product. At ZEN CBD, Novus Fumus Space Gummies, Stoney, and Hoil, you'll find edibles with 5 mg THC per piece, often combined with an equal amount of CBD or with CBD and CBG together. ZEN CBD also offers a variant with 10 mg THC per edible. The High Company's Live Rosin gummies go up to 15 mg Delta 9 THC per gummy. ProHemp Gummies also contain 10 mg THC per gummy, supplemented with 10 mg CBD and 5 mg CBG.
Please note: a number like 200mg or 150mg in a product name does not automatically indicate the amount of THC per edible. Always check the dosage per piece on the product page for the correct amount.
With ZEN CBD and Novus Fumus Space Gummies, you can choose between a Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid variant. This refers to the cannabis strain used, but not automatically to the effect or the best time of use. Flavours within the range vary from fruit punch and cherry to apple, tropical, and bubblegum.
Additionally, this range also includes hemp oil-based edibles, such as those from Pop a Pot. These contain a THC content below 0.05% and no specified amount of THC per edible. This makes them not comparable to edibles that do contain a fixed amount of THC per piece.

Because THC edibles have a delayed onset and their effects can last for a long time, unwanted effects can also persist longer. Possible side effects include:
At a strong dose, the effects can become unpleasant or overwhelming. People who are sensitive to anxiety, panic, or psychotic symptoms may react more strongly to THC.
THC affects reaction time and driving ability. Do not participate in traffic or operate machinery while under the influence. Not feeling high anymore does not automatically mean you can drive safely again. With edibles, the effects can also last longer than with inhaled cannabis.
Combining THC with alcohol or other psychoactive substances makes the effects less predictable. Cannabinoids can also interact with medications. If you are taking medication or have a medical condition, discuss use with a doctor or pharmacist first.
THC edibles are intended only for adults aged 18 and over and not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Keep them out of reach of children and pets, as their appearance and taste can cause them to be mistaken for ordinary sweets.
The legal status of THC edibles can vary significantly depending on the country and the specific composition of the product. It is essential to check the current local regulations before purchasing and using any THC edibles.
At Novus Fumus, we clearly indicate for each product which cannabinoids are present and how much a single edible contains. This way, you know better what you are buying and can easily compare different products.
