Welcome to our collection of high-quality mescaline cacti. For botanical collectors and lovers of rare plants, we offer a variety of iconic species – from the slow-growing Peyote to the imposing San Pedro.

What is a mescaline cactus?

A mescaline cactus is a unique plant that naturally contains the alkaloid mescaline. Species such as the Peyote and San Pedro originate from the deserts of Mexico and the Andes Mountains. Collectors value every mescaline cactus in their collection for its unique shape and historical significance. Whether you choose a globular Lophophora or a columnar Trichocereus, you are bringing a remarkable piece of natural history into your home.

Historical and Cultural Context

Mescaline-containing cacti have played a central role in South American traditions for thousands of years, particularly among indigenous peoples in Mexico and the Andes. In spiritual rituals, the mescaline cactus is used to expand perception and seek a deeper connection with nature and the spiritual world.

What are the effects of mescaline?

Mescaline is a naturally occurring alkaloid with hallucinogenic properties. It alters visual, auditory, and sensory perception. This can make colors appear more intense and make complex patterns or geometric figures visible. Objects may appear larger or smaller than they actually are. The primary effects usually last 4 to 6 hours, with the user typically returning to a sober state within 8 to 12 hours.

Popular Species: Peyote and San Pedro

In our shop, you will find the most important species for your collection:

Peyote Cactus (Lophophora williamsii)

A legendary, extremely slow-growing mescaline cactus from Mexico. This cactus is spineless, globular, and produces beautiful pink flowers after several years. A true crown jewel for any collector.

San Pedro & Peruviana (Trichocereus)

The San Pedro and Peruviana are hardy columnar cacti from South America. They grow relatively fast and, thanks to their robust appearance, make an impressive addition to your interior or greenhouse.

Risks of Mescaline Cacti?

Like other psychedelics, using mescaline carries risks, especially with high doses or an unstable mental state. In an unsafe environment, a trip can become frightening (a 'bad trip'). This can lead to anxiety, confusion, or a temporary loss of reality. This is particularly risky for individuals with a predisposition to psychosis, depression, or anxiety disorders.

Caring for Your Cactus

Growing from seeds or cuttings is simple if you follow these basic rules:

  • Light: Plenty of light is essential. A sunny spot is ideal, but acclimate young plants to direct sunlight gradually.
  • Water: Only water when the soil is completely dry. In winter, a mescaline cactus requires almost no water at all.
  • Soil: Use an airy cactus potting mix with extra sand or perlite to ensure proper drainage.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between Peyote and San Pedro?
The Peyote is globular and grows very slowly. The San Pedro is a columnar cactus that grows upward much faster.

Is mescaline addictive?
According to Jellinek, mescaline is not addictive. However, a rapid, short-lived tolerance develops: the body temporarily gets used to the effects. This means one would need a higher dose for the same experience shortly after use. This tolerance typically disappears after a week or two of non-use.
